BICCIAB response to the Australian Apprenticeship Taskforce (August and September 2009)

BICCIAB made two submissions to the Australian Apprenticeship Taskforce. Our first submission provided a response to three topics 1. Maximising commencements and increasing completions, 2. Retaining apprentices through the downturn and 3. Support for our out of trade/retrenched apprentices. The second submission was the BICCIAB response to the strategies the taskforce had identified to meet the three goals. More information on the taskforce is included in our latest news section.

Industry skills needs report (2009)

BICCIAB are required to produce a report every year to Skills Victoria on the current and emerging needs of the building and construction workforce. It is vital that industry have a voice to government, and this is one of Skills Victoria’s main sources of information. If you would like to contribute to the 2010 report please contact BICCIAB.

Apprenticeship completion rates in the Building and Construction Industry (May 2008)

Fire Protection has an apprenticeship completion rate of 85%, compared to 70% in other building trades. This report analyses the reasons behind the success of the Fire Protection apprenticeship and provides a best practice case study for building trades.
