Discussion Papers & Responses to Government and Industry Initiatives

BICCIAB often produces discussion papers and responses to government and industry initiatives. Below are copies of recent papers. If you would like further information please contact BICCIAB.

BICCIAB made two submissions to the Australian Apprenticeship Taskforce. Our first submission provided a response to three topics 1. Maximising commencements and increasing completions, 2. Retaining apprentices through the downturn and 3. Support for our out of trade/retrenched apprentices. The second submission was the BICCIAB response to the strategies the taskforce had identified to meet the three goals. More information on the taskforce is included in our latest news section.
Each year an Industry Skill Needs Report (ISNR) for the building and construction industry is submitted to Skills Victoria. The report outlines where the industry believes the government should be investing in training by identifying new and emerging skills needs. For the 2010 year, Access Economics produced the Industry Skill Needs Report. The report contains excellent information on the future skills needs of our industry. BICCIAB are required to validate this information and if you would like to provide us with feedback on this report or contribute to the 2011 report, we would be very grateful for your input. Click here for a copy of the 2010 ISNR.
If you are interested in the Industry Skill Needs Reports from other industry's please visit the Skills Victoria website page for a list of ITABs in Victoria.
