Industry Skill Need Report 2011
Skills Victoria have released the annual "Victorian skill needs in 2011: A summary of industry intelligence". BICCIAB contributed significantly to the outcomes in the report, with our thanks going to the many businesses and industry representatives who participated. The report, written by Deloitte Access Economics, provides an outlook for the Victorian labour market in 2011, including analysis of occupations in demand and those experiencing critical skill shortages.
A number of building and construction occupations are listed as in critical demand. BICCIAB has some concerns that missing from the list are trade occupations in building and construction along with a range of occupations in the Civil Construction sector. We shall continue discussions on this issue with Skills Victoria and our industry stakeholders.
The building and construction extract, including excellent labour market data, can be downloaded in pdf by clicking HERE.
The full report providing information on all industries is available HERE.

Access Economics have also put together an easy to understand (true!) powerpoint presentation on the state of the labour market now and key issues affecting demand and skills in the next three years.
