Spotlight on....
This month, we are profiling the building and construction role of ... carpenter. Carpentry is a very popular job in the industry and young people are attracted to it because it is seen as the starting point to becoming a registered builder. Being a carpenter enables you to work on large commercial projects in the city right through to running your own business in the suburbs. BICCIAB support the need for qualified carpenters to take on apprentices to help build our industry skill base and make our industry the best!
- To get an apprenticeship or job in carpentry go to Jobsearch - on the 22nd of May 2010 there were 26 jobs for carpenters in Melbourne.
- To check out how much money carpenters earn and what they do on the job visit the carpenters section on the Myfuture website.
- See a great video about the experiences of one young carpenter and how he went from finishing his apprenticeship to being a supervisor in just six months!
A profile on a Melbourne chippy will be coming soon.
